Melissa works with women and girls who are struggling with anxiety, depression and trauma. Regardless of whether you and/or your family are experiencing anxiety, life transition, anger or depression issues, Melissa offers compassionate services to help you increase your daily functioning and overall well-being in day-to-day life. Melissa’s goal is to provide an honest and open relationship with clients, so that they can become more self-aware and determine what is contributing to troubling patterns in life.
Advanced Training Through EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of emotional wounds (trauma). EMDR therapy allows the mind to heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma; but at a faster rate than traditional talk psychotherapy. If your system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering. Once the block is removed, healing resumes.

In addition to providing advanced training through EMDR, Melissa also integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy along with Person-Centered techniques. The premise of Cognitive Behavioral therapy is to identify and confront faulty thinking patterns that create anxiety and/or depression. Person-Centered techniques relate to meeting you where you are and providing you with a warm and safe environment.
