So Happy You’re Here!

Sometimes one of the hardest obstacles in reaching your goals is knowing where to begin. You are completing the first step now by searching for the right therapist for YOU! Whether it’s depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, or a combination of several struggles you’re facing, Kimberly is here to guide you through the journey of healing and working toward the best version of yourself.

Changing the Cycle of Family Dysfunction

Family dysfunction can present in a multitude of ways. This can include parent-child conflicts, domestic violence or abuse, sibling rivalries, and even poor boundaries or enmeshment. Many issues we encounter today can be directly related to childhood experiences and how those experiences were internalized. Kimberly will assist you in your walk of becoming a healthier person today, despite those experiences. Her aim is not for those experiences to be relived, but rather healed from in order for you to feel whole in the present.

Trauma and EMDR Therapy

Kimberly is Level II trained in EMDR therapy. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.  It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal.  EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma.  If you were to break your arm and not seek treatment, there’s a good chance your arm will not heal correctly and you will have lasting effects or limitations. The brain works in a very similar way regarding emotional trauma. If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound may not heal in a healthy way and can cause intense suffering.  Once the wound is treated appropriately, healing resumes.

A Passion for Mental Health

Kimberly has been working in the mental health field for over 10 years. Upon completing her bachelor’s degree, she began working for an outpatient mental health clinic providing case management. She then took a position working for an inpatient mental health hospital where she worked while completing her master’s degree in Social Work. She has experience working with individuals in a hospice setting, specifically helping family members navigate through grief and loss. Kimberly’s passion is working with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment issues, sexual orientation, grief, and family dysfunction. Her approach is both inviting and nurturing, providing a safe space for clients to heal and move forward with the lives they want to live. She provides openness and a non-judgmental atmosphere for clients to feel accepted where they are, and encouraged in their journey of where they want to be.
